Pharmacology is the science of drug action on biological systems. It includes knowledge of the sources, chemical properties, biological effects and therapeutic uses of drugs. 
   
It is a science that is basic not only to Medicine, but also to Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy and Veterinary medicine.
   
The objective of the department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics is to educate the under graduate (Dental) students to apply basic principles of Pharmacology and Therapeutics to practice rational use of drugs.

To accomplish these objectives, the department is composed of primary facilities and technical supporting staff. The department engages in various programs of classroom instructions and laboratory work for under graduate students. Laboratory work includes teaching basics of pharmacy with clinical implications of various pharmacy practicals.
